Three Decades of Disciplined Multifamily Investing

Jerry Fink co-founded The Bascom Group in 1996 around a disciplined approach to multifamily investing: acquire well, improve operations, and focus on realized results. That approach has guided more than $22 billion in transactions over three decades.

About Jerry Fink

The Operator Behind the Strategy

One discipline has guided Jerry's career: acquire undervalued apartment communities, improve them through operations, and measure success in cash returned to investors, not paper marks.

As Co-Founder and Managing Partner of The Bascom Group, which he launched in 1996 alongside Derek Ming-Dar Chen and David Kim, Jerry leads the firm's transaction process: sourcing, due diligence, financing, execution, and disposition. To date, Bascom has completed more than $22 billion in multifamily value-add transactions across 367 properties nationwide.

Jerry holds an MBA in Real Estate and Finance and a BS in Electrical and Computer Engineering, both from the University of Wisconsin-Madison.

What Makes Bascom Different

Built to Operate Through Cycles

Jerry leads transactions at a firm whose scale reflects three decades of disciplined multifamily investing:

01
Realized Returns, Not Paper Marks
Bascom's philosophy is to measure success by cash actually distributed to investors, not paper valuations. Returns are reported when capital is in investors' hands.
02
Operators First
Value is pursued at the asset level, through property management, targeted renovations, and expense discipline. The focus is operations, not market timing.
03
Aligned Incentives, By Design
Bascom's principals and senior team invest personally alongside investors in every fund. The fee structure is backend-weighted, and asset management fees apply only to capital actively invested.

All investing involves risk, including the possible loss of principal. Real estate investments are subject to risks such as illiquidity, leverage, changing market and economic conditions, and the possibility that distributions may be delayed, reduced, or not occur. Past performance does not guarantee future results.

The Bascom Approach
Reinvestment That Keeps Housing in the Supply

Without ongoing investment, aging communities deteriorate and eventually leave the market, tightening supply for the people who depend on it. Bascom's value-add approach interrupts that cycle by restoring quality to workforce housing.
